Parent Teacher Association

(PTA)

 

ABOUT:

The objectives of the PTA are to provide support and resources to the school for the benefit and educational growth of the children; to develop a cooperative working relationship between the parents and staff of our school; to develop parent leadership and build capacity for greater involvement; to foster and encourage parent participation on all levels; and to provide opportunities and training for parents to participate in school governance and decision-making.

 

WHO: 

Parents of students currently attending STAR Academy are automatically members of the PTA.  Parents include parents by birth or adoption, step-parents, legally appointed guardians, foster parents, and persons in parental relation to a child currently attending STAR Academy.  At the beginning of each school year, the association shall send a welcome letter to inform parents of their automatic membership status and voting rights.

Positions available for election in September 2018 are:

-Vice-President: Support the President in her/his duties and participate in meetings and events.

-Fundraising Chairperson: Facilitate the planning and execution of fundraisers for the school

-Event Chairperson: Facilitate the planning and execution of PTA family events

-Title 1 Representative: To plan, review and implementation of Title I programs and the joint development of parent compact policy. Attend DPAC monthly meetings and report to parents in general membership meeting.

PTA Meeting Dates 2017-2018:

All meetings will be held in the cafeteria, 8:20 am, and 5:30 pm in the Dance Room.  Normally the 3rd Tuesday of the month unless school holiday or other conflicting school event.
